StarLightMedia and Civil Network OPORA continue information campaign for fair and free elections. Ukrainians will defend the right to express their will free from fraud and falsification on 25 October elections to local councils.

Statistically, the most prevalent cases recorded by OPORA observers in September were related to illegal campaigning. However, the most alarming cases, with the gravest consequences and their negative impact on the democracy of election process, are those that include elements of abusing the administrative resource, and material incentives for voters. It was shared by representatives of the Civil Network OPORA at the press conference on October, 2, in Kyiv.

In September 2020, the local election process continued amid ongoing discussions in the parliament about the legislative regulation of the election in a pandemic.

On Friday, October 2, at 11:30 AM, Civil Network OPORA holds a press-conference at the Ukrinform press center (8/16 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho St.), dedicated to observation of the first month of local election campaign with the Election Day scheduled for 25 October.

99,525 voters have changed their voting address to vote at their actual place of residence on 25 October. This was reported by OPORA with reference to the final data published by the State Register of Voters.

In early September, OPORA have sent letters to city mayors heads of oblast centers and Kyiv Mayor calling to sign the Code of Conduct for Public Officials During the Election Process and follow it in local elections, scheduled for 25 October. As of September 30, the first 10 mayors have already signed the Code.

Most commissions in the territorial communities in Luhansk region (where the Central Election Commission declared impossible to have the elections) are not in operation. However, there are some commissions that continue having their sessions. It is informed by OPORA representatives from Luhansk region.

September 24 was the last day to submit documents for the registration of candidates in these local elections. However, a typical problem in Ukrainian election, namely the "namesake" technology has arisen yet before this date in some of the regions, and Kirovohrad oblast in particular.
