3 November 2011 in Donetsk was held second round of public discussion concerning improving electoral legislation of Ukraine “What kind of election law needs Ukraine”, organized by the Civic Consortium of Election Initiatives complemented by CVU, CN OPORA, ALI and UCIPR.

2 November 2011 in Lviv was discussed weather a new law “On Elections of the People’s Deputies of Ukraine” will provide fare and open parliamentary elections, or not.

On a conference which took place during the break in a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday, leaders of the parliamentary factions came to an agreement in developing procedure for consideration of the law on election of people’s deputies.

31 October 2011 the Committee on State Building and Local Self-Government considered draft laws on elections of people's deputies of Ukraine.

27 October 2011 in Donetsk was held public debate on theme “What kind of election law needs Ukraine?” with approximately 130 participants. The object of the event was to discuss advantages and possible shortcomings that may appear from the key issues of the bill “On Elections of the People’s Deputies of Ukraine”, in particular – electoral system, forming electoral districts and election commissions (precinct and district).

It’s a year since newly elected local councils have come to power. Deputies have already managed to show their best and worst sides. Constituents, journalists and civic experts for their part managed to form opinion about elected representatives and to evaluate their activity.
