Civil Network OPORA initiated a working group on political financing. It included representatives of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, the Central Election Commission, the National Police of Ukraine, and all-Ukrainian and international organizations.
OPORA is studying the problems of prevention and prosecution for violation of the rules of financing political parties, their reporting, provision, and receipt of financial (material) support for election campaigning, as well as reporting on the receipt and use of election fund resources.
Discussion of the need to develop changes for legislation in the working group format is presented in the contents of the round table https://www.oporaua.org/vybory/shcho-bilsh-pidzvitnimi-budut-partiyi-to-bilshoiu-bude-dovira-vibortsiv-u-kiievi-obgovorili-politichne-finansuvannia-24716
Based on the working group's findings, recommendations will be developed to amend the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Code of Administrative Offenses. In addition, an online training platform has been developed for inquirers and investigators to learn more about typical violations in party financing.
The first meeting was held on March 19, the next session is scheduled for April 2, 2024.
The project "Ensuring the inescapable nature of punishment and preventing violations of political financing rules" is implemented by the Civil Network OPORA with the support of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the UK aid.
