On 23-25 April, Civil Network OPORA holds its annual Election Nonconference #ElectionCamp17 in Kyiv.
It's not only a traditional training, lectures or practice, the event will also give an opportunity to meet the leading speakers and experts in election and election-related matters. We will gather activists, who values the institute of elections and democracy, from all over Ukraine. We strive to broaden our outlook, understand the trends, accumulate knowledge and prepare methods against manipulations each year, but not only before the election. We highly value such gatherings of like-minded individuals, and to attract new activists to the league of fair election fans.
Topics covered by the Election Camp-2017:
- Fake observation and its detection;
- Observation methods and best practices;
- Propaganda and post-truth;
- Electronic voting and the latest technologies used in elections;
- Open election data;
- Russia in the Balcans, EU and other regions, or a geopolitical dimension in nowadays processes and its influence on elections;
- Practices of the European Court of Human Rights related to human rights;
- Statistical methods used to detect falsifications;
- State Register of Voters in Ukraine and how it functions;
- What makes the voters to vote for or against, or motivational sociology;
- Safety and politics;
- Phenomenon of populism;
- and other topics and practices.
We expect to attract around 100 participants including NGO representatives, journalists and politically unbiased activists.
Well-known experts, politicians, analysts and foreign guests experienced in electoral matters are invited as speakers of the Election NONconference.
The training is also goaled to integrate the participants OPORA's into future observation campaigns.
