On 15 November 2015, the second round of mayoral elections in 29 cities will be held in Ukraine. Who participates in the second round in your city? Use OPORA's interactive map to get this information.
On 15 November 2015, the second round of mayoral election is to be held in 29 cities having over 90 thousand voters, where none of the candidates took 50% +1 vote in the first round on 25 October. Such two-round electoral system is a novelty established by the Law on Local Elections adopted on 14 July. Thus, one of two candidates in each of 29 cities who receives larger number of votes on 15 November will be considered elected regardless of the voter turnout.
It should be mentioned that only 5 of 35 cities having 90 thousand voters or more have managed to elect mayors in the first round: Sloviansk, Lysychansk, Odesa, Ternopil and Kharkiv.
Thus, the second round is to be held on 15 November in 29 of 35 cities. These cities are Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Lutsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Dniprodzerzhynsk, Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol, Pavlohrad, Kramatorsk, Zhytomyr, Uzhhorod, Berdiansk, Zaporizhia, Melitopol, Ivano-Frankivsk, Bila Tserkva, Kirovohrad, Sievierodonetsk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Kremenchuk, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi. It should be mentioned that the elections were not held in Mariupol on 25 October, and the date of election is not scheduled yet.
