As of 5:45 p.m., OPORA's activists have detected more than 12 incidents when voters took pictures of their ballots. For example, three incidents were reported to the police in polling station #740997. If two of them, persons who took the pictures were detained, a report was drawn up, explanations were demanded, and phones were confiscated. Observers and commission members were witnesses. In one case, a voter who took a picture of his marked ballot, promptly gave his phone to his five. Thus, police had to release him.
Voter taking pictures of ballot was also detected atpolling stations #740993 (police questioned the man who took a photo of his ballot. He said that he took a picture because he "had to", as long as he was promised to receive buckwheat and sugar, but later he took his words back. Police didn't find any picture of ballot on his phone),#741007 and other. After a voter took picture of his ballot at polling station #741023 (photo), the picture was deleted. According to OPORA's activist, law-enforcement bodies don't know how to respond to such incidents.
They also have mentioned that it's more easy to see flashes after it became darker.
OPORA would like to remind that according to the Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, deliberate violation of the voting secrecy during election or referendum, when choice of a voter is intentionally disclosed, shall be punished with a fine or from one to three hundred of untaxed salary minimums, corrective labor for up to two years, or restriction on liberty for up to three years.
