To make sure that you'll be able to vote in early Parliamentary elections on 26 October 2014, you are welcome to use OPORA's advice. We recommend you to check whether you are included in voter lists as soon as possible. If you are absent, use 2 simple and effective advices, which are provided by the effective legislation.

 

 

ADVICE #1 Check whether you are included in voter lists:

1. To register on the site of the State Register of Voters and submit the corresponding appeal through the electronic system. The answer should be given to your e-mail box during the next few days;

2. To visit your precinct election commission (PEC) at the address of your registration and ask members of the PEC personally, since 14 October.

1) APPEAL the PEC or SVR

Not later than 5 days before the voting day (till 20 October 2014), you should submit an appeal regarding your inclusion in the voter register to a precinct election commission (PEC) or to State Voter Register maintenance body (SVR) at your registration address.

The appeal should be considered within one day.

2) COURT CLAIMS

If you haven't submitted an application for inclusion to the voter list or update of your information in it, you can file a court claim to the local general court in accordance with the administrative legal procedure (Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine) not later than two days before the election day (23 October 2014 inclusive). The court fee is not required.

Civic monitoring conducted by OPORA - is a type of network activity, aimed at impartial assessment of the preparation and conduct of elections, as well as preventing electoral violations through comprehensive civic action.
Starting from September 2014, Civil Network OPORA conducts a large-scale observation of special parliamentary elections in Ukraine. The organization will attract 213 long-term observers in every region of Ukraine to monitor the campaign from its official start to announcement of the final election results. On the Election Day on May 26, more than 2,000 activists will join them to conduct statistically-based parallel vote tabulation.
OPORA will systematically inform the public about the course of election campaign, and whether electoral subjects adhere to the electoral legislation, officials participate in the race, and all the interested parties follow international standards. Large-scale civic observation is aimed to prevent violations during the election campaign and abuses during the vote count process. Besides observation, OPORA will conduct information awareness campaign, and secure legal support for citizens aimed to protect their electoral rights.
