Today, on 30 May, the 40 session of Mykolaiv City Council was held, on which the new Mayor has assumed the office, elected by citizens of Mykolaiv simultaneously with the President on 25 May.
The Head of Mykolaiv City Election Commission Iryna Kosiakova has announced the election results in single-member district according to the protocol on special elections of Mykolaiv City Mayor and resolution of Mykolaiv city election commission #298 of 26 May 2014 "On recognition of the elected Mayor of Myolaiv". According to the results of voting, the Secretary of Mykolaiv City Council Yurii Hranaturov has received the biggest number of voters.
The newly-elected Mayor has taken an oath, received the personal identification card, emblem and symbols of City Mayor – Mayoral chain and symbolic key.
We remind that 19 candidates were fighting for the position of Mykolaiv City Mayor. 181,777 of Mykolaiv citizens have participated in the voting. Yurii Hranaturov has received 50,347 votes, and his opponent Serhii Isakov – 41,516.

Since March, OPORA conducts a wide observation campaign during snap Presidential election, interim Parliamentary elections (district #83), and special local elections. The organization cooperates with 175 long-term observers, who are watching the course of election campaign in all Ukrainian regions. On the Election Day on May 25, 3,000 activists will join them to conduct the parallel vote tabulation, based on statistical sample.
