District Election Commission #83 has counted 100% of votes given by Ivano-Frankivsk citizens during the interim elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
(Photo: http://goo.gl/ZNw2i4) According to the information provided by the DEC, Director of the Bukovel Tourist Complex Oleksandr Shevchenko will be the MP in single-mandate majoritarian election district #83 (Ivano-Frankivsk city). He received 35.5% of votes and left his main competitor Viktor Anushkevychus, the Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, far behind. The latter received 23.7% of votes. Final results of these elections should be approved by the Central Election Commission. According to OPORA's observation, the MP candidate Oleksandr Shevchenko has started campaigning much earlier then the other candidates and placed a lot of campaign materials in local media. Besides that, the candidate was supported by the People's Artist of Ukraine Ruslana Lyzhychko, who participated in some events during the election campaign of Mr. Shevchenko. Simultaneously, Oleksandr Shevchenko – is the only candidate in Prykarpattia, who used campaigning methods considered to be indirect voter bribery by OPORA's observers. We remind that during 2012 Parliamentary Elections, the candidate brought nearly 30,000 voters from Ivano-Frankivsk to the Bukovel, and told them what he's going to do if he's elected as MP. Reference: Civic monitoring conducted by OPORA - is a type of network activity, aimed at impartial assessment of the preparation and conduct of elections, as well as preventing electoral violations through comprehensive civic action. Since March, OPORA conducts a wide observation campaign during snap Presidential election, interim Parliamentary elections (district #83), and special local elections. The organization cooperates with 175 long-term observers, who are watching the course of election campaign in all Ukrainian regions. On the Election Day on May 25, 3,000 activists will join them to conduct the parallel vote tabulation, based on statistical sample.
This year, the name Oleksandr Shevchenko could be heard when the winners of painting contest "Ivano-Frankivsk is European city" were awarded. The best authors received certificates for free recreation in the Bukovel Tourist Complex, and the presenter emphasized that the presents are given by the MP candidate in district #83 Oleksandr Shevchenko.
