Assembly of the Communists, aimed to collect signatures in support of the all-Ukrainian referendum on accession to the Eurasian Economic Community, was scheduled for 11am. However, the initiative group with special admission passes were allowed to enter earlier. Some journalists and individuals against accession to the Customs Union couldn't enter at all.
The event was visited by 2508 registered persons, and 2000 signatures in support of the referendum were required.
Some representatives of the CPU had pinned admission passes to their clothes.
Most attendees of the assembly in support of the all-Ukrainian referendum were retirement-age people.
Petro Symonenko was speaking cautiously. He avoided calling to join the Customs Union, and called to join the Eurasian Economic Community instead. However, he said that he sees Ukraine ext to Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.
After every statement, leader of the Communists asked initiative group to vote if they agree with him. We can see a journalist Oksana Shkoda, who is stick to left wing political views, in the first row.
Member of the CEC Yurii Donchenko was also present in spite of the court prohibition. However, Mr. Donchenko informed that he came as a physical person, and it's his day-off.
