On June 10, at 12am in a conference hall of the Holiday Inn hotel (100 Velyka Vasylkivska Street, 1st floor, conference hall, Kyiv city), a roundtable will be held by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the Civil Network OPORA, on the topic: "What the Parliament should do in order to properly organize the election of deputies in problematic districts?".
During the event, experts will analyze main drawbacks of draft Law on Making Amendments to the Law of Ukraine on Elections of People's Deputies of Ukraine, developed by the Ministry of Justice. Besides that, they will present key amendments which should be considered by MPs when improving the legislation on Parliamentary elections in general, and re-election in problematic districts in particular.
Representatives of the following organizations will express their suggestions for improvement of electoral legislation: International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), Civil Network OPORA, Committee of Voters of Ukraine, Agency for Legislative Initiatives, Ukrainian Center for Independent Political Research, Election Law Institute, Media Law Institute, and other NGOs. Invited representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, members of parliamentary factions, the CEC and experts in electoral matters will air their proposals concerning issues of electoral legislation and its improvement.
Remarks, based on results of the event, will be filed to the corresponding Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and disseminated among MPs and leaders of parliamentary factions.
