According to observation of the Civil Network OPORA, the electoral competition intensifies. In the electoral district No.208 — in particular, in Bakhmach — a long-term observer detected an information poster without any imprint, involvement in which the headquarters of the candidate featured there deny. “Mykhailo Holytsia — the only candidate of the authorities,” the campaigning material says.
As it is known, candidate Holytsia positions himself as an independent player despite the fact that he is a deputy of Volodymyr Lytvyn's People's Party of Kyiv City Council.
“This information leaflets are produced by the headquarters of the Radical Party of Oleh Liashko,” ensures Valentyna Zhelezniak, Press Secretary of Mykhailo Holytsia's Campaign Headquarters. “In addition to the poster, other posters were also pasted up in the electoral district. Among them, there are the “Granny and Cat” ones.”
The words of the representatives of Mykhailo Holytsia's team weren't directly confirmed. However, it is obvious that the leaflets are strongly negative, and are also aimed to discredit Mr Holytsia.
From a strategic perspective public monitoring of elections focuses upon improving the system and certain procedures.
In 2012, during Parliamentary elections in Ukraine OPORA is carrying out a large-scale campaign of long- and short term observation, organizing a statistical vote-count by the results of voting with the proportional component of the electoral system on a basis of representative selection, will provide 100% coverage of polling stations by observers in separate single-mandate majoritarian districts. OPORA observers will work in all 225 electoral districts, and 3,500 activists will join them on the voting day. Organization will use the latest means of spreading information on observation results, including infographics and interactive maps.
