On Friday, October 2, at 11:30 AM, Civil Network OPORA holds a press-conference at the Ukrinform press center (8/16 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho St.), dedicated to observation of the first month of local election campaign with the Election Day scheduled for 25 October.

During the event, OPORA will present its second report on observation results of the local election campaign. Experts will tell about key issues in the nomination and registration of candidates, the "namesake" technology, campaigning activeness of local cells of political parties and candidates, activities of TECs and main problems in their activities, as well as major violations of electoral legislation and international standards.

Besides that, OPORA's representatives will assess activities of the CEC and the districting process, as well as present reviews of electoral disputes in courts and the main trends in political advertising on social networks. The experts will also tell about the results of signing of the Code of Conduct for Public Officials During the Election Process.

Reference: OPORA's observation is aimed to provide impartial assessment of election administration and process, facilitate free and fair election, and prevent violations. Civil Network OPORA has been realizing a wide-scale observation of regular local elections, to be held on October 25. We have deployed 188 observers nationwide, and short-term observers will join them on the Election Day. OPORA also monitors the use of budget resources for indirect campaigning, and civic ombudsmen inspect polling premises in terms of accessibility, as well as protect voting rights of citizens.
