Civil Network OPORA and the Central Election Commission will cooperate to implement the open data policy, including the development and creation of online services adapted for the CEC.
OPORA's Head of the Board Olha Aivazovska and Head of the CEC Oleh Didenko signed the corresponding Memorandum of Cooperation on August 13.
Opening access to information in open data format about election process and its administration is a vital step towards increased transparency and accountability of the CEC, aimed at realization of Ukrainian legislation demanding the publication of open data.
The cooperation includes developing propositions on the open data policy of the CEC and its introduction, as well as discussion of the preparation, timely update and publication of key open election data sets. Based on the discussion results, we will determine the lists of open data sets, subject to publication in open data format. We will use these data to create and popularize visualizations, instruments and analytic materials.
Besides that, we are planning to conduct joint events for stakeholders (seminars, lectures, trainings, conferences) as a part of cooperation.
We expect that such a joint effort will improve access to information on national and local elections in Ukraine and facilitate its further use.
