The global security system that prevailed in Europe after the Second World War and was destroyed by Russia's military aggression against Ukraine is facing new global challenges. And the international condemnation of war crimes and the inevitability of punishment for them is one of the critical elements on which the structure of world security will have to be rebuilt. Сivil Network OPORA invites the conference participants to discuss the format of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.

Date: October 5, 2:00 p.m.

Place: Saski Hall, Sofitel (within the Warsaw Human Dimension Conference)

Speakers:

  • Anton Korynevych, Ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine;
  • Prof. Milena Sterio, Public International Law & Policy Group (PILPG) Managing Director;
  • Prof. Agnieszka Bieńczyk-Missala, Faculty of Political Science and International Studies of the University of Warsaw;
  • Representatives of Civil Network OPORA.

This side-event is organized by Civil Network OPORA and International Centre for Ukrainian Victory. Light refreshments will be provided by the organizers.

P.S. In September 2022, Civil Network OPORA opened the Center for Assistance of War Crimes Documentation in Warsaw. We choose this city because many Ukrainians found refuge from the war here. Therefore, witnesses and victims of Russian war crimes can come to the Center, where qualified lawyers and psychologists will help them to speak about what they saw and experienced as the testimony for international courts and tribunals.
