Ukrainian delegation took part in the regional workshop “Open Parliaments, Engaged Citizen” (Casta-Pepiernicka, Slovakia). An expert of Civil Network OPORA Nadiia Babynska and MP of Ukrainian Parliament Ivan Krulko participated in this event.
Ivan Krulko presented The Legislative Openness Action Plan of Ukrainian Parliament that was adopted by the order of Speaker of Parliament on the 5th of February, 2016. MP focused on the main areas of the Action Plan and commitments that have been made. Nadiia Babynska spoke about the development of the Action Plan, specific of communication with Administrative office of Parliament, MPs. She presented the tools of monitoring NGOs of the Action Plan as well.
The workshop brought together members of parliament, parliamentary staff, and civil society representatives from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia to draw on experiences from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Latvia in regards to legislative transparency and civic engagement. Representatives of legislatures and civil society in Georgia and Ukraine participated to share their experiences in advancing openness reform.
Nadiia Babynska provided recommendations for improved legislative transparency and civic engagement in Balkan countries.
