The percentage of absenteeism is growing. The loss of budget is more than 6.5 million hryvnias

June 14, Kyiv. The Civil Network OPORA is concerned about the growing percentage of absenteeism of entrants on the testing. The trend  of decline is observed in percentage terms. This is evidenced by statistics provided by the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Evaluation. Thus, if the test of the Ukrainian language and literature did not receive 11.94% of the participants, during testing of foreign languages, this percentage increased and reached 12.4%.

Even more graduates didn’t pass biology (14%) and geography (15.3%).

Total number of students who did not come to the testing for 4 subjects is 101,844 people, equal to about 6.5 million UAH of budget funds spent on useless provision of EIT for those who had registered, but changed his mind and wasn’t tested because of changes to the Terms of Admission in 2010.

Even more graduates didn’t pass biology (14%) and geography (15.3%).

In quantitative terms, most participants ignored the test of the Ukrainian language and literature (51 780), then - biology (19 255), geography (17 909) and foreign languages ??(12 900). "According to our opinion, the problem of absenteeism is directly related to the fact that a large class of persons got an opportunity to enter without passing independent testing due to changes in admission terms. OPORA will conduct observing campaign directly for entry and will have chance to estimate what percentage of this year's students took advantage of preferences and whether this year's graduates are denied the right to equal access to education because others will enter for different evaluation criteria, "- says the chairman of the CN OPORA Olha Ayvazovska.

Comparing the situation with 2009, it is worth noting the growth of attendance at tests of geography and foreign languages.

However, the percentage of students that did not appear on the testing in the Ukrainian language and literature and biology has increased dramatically.
